Description

The purpose of this resource is to provide templates and display materials for you to co-construct an interactive Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Timeline with your students.

Keep New Zealand’s history front and centre in your classroom and show visually where the important events fit in! QR code links help students to explore these important events in further detail. This resource is a great tool to use with the new Aotearoa New Zealand Histories curriculum.

In this Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Timeline resource you receive:
  • Display lettering to create the heading: AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND HISTORIES TIMELINE
  • 40 example key Aotearoa New Zealand history moment labels. Each of these features a date, a title, and a QR code linking to further information. This QR code turns the timetable into an interactive learning tool. Students can use a digital device to scan the QR code and learn more about each Aotearoa New Zealand historical moment.
  • Timeline date markers for you and your students to use to place your key moments at the appropriate places within history. The dates range from 1200 to 2060. From 1200 to 1800, the dates go up in 50s e.g. 1200, 1250, 1300, and so on. From 1800-2060, the dates go up in 20s, e.g. 1800, 1820, 1840, and so on.
  • Blank templates for students to create their own interactive timeline events. Throughout the year, as your students study Aotearoa New Zealand and its historical moments, students can summarise these events using our template.

Events included on our Aotearoa New Zealand history moment labels include:

  • The Musket Wars
  • The Signing of the Treaty of Waitangi
