Ready to Read Phonics Plus Tupu Hands-On Activities

Description

This resource provides five sets of hands-on activities to accompany the Read to Read Phonics Plus Tupu texts. The hands-on activities have been created to specifically match the focus sounds taught in each book.

With initial modelling and scaffolding, these activities are intended to be completed independently to build students’ skills in following instructions, fine motor skills and stamina to complete a task. The activities have been carefully designed to enhance the teaching that occurs in small group guided reading and to give independent practice to the focus sounds taught.

The Phonics Plus Tupu Hands-On Activities pack features five sets:

1. In the Phonics Plus Tupu Hands-On Activities – Set One pack, you receive:

Two activities:
- Build and Write
- I Spy Blends

This set features activities for the focus sounds: oo, ‘s’ blends

To use this resource, you will need access to the books Hoot Hoot and Swim Day

2. In the Phonics Plus Tupu Hands-On Activities – Set Two pack, you receive:

Two activities:
- Pick the Blend: L Blends
- Word Slider (-tch and x)

This set features activities for the focus sounds: -tch, x, -l blends

To use this resource, you will need access to the books A Batch of Pancakes and Weka in a Flap

3. In the Phonics Plus Tupu Hands-On Activities – Set Three pack, you receive:

Two activities:
- Spin n Cover
- Write the Room

This set features activities for the focus sounds: ‘r’ blends, end blends ft, lp, st

To use this resource, you will need access to the books Frog in a Log and Weka Helps Out.

4. In the Phonics Plus Tupu Hands-On Activities – Set Four pack, you receive:

Two activities:
- Connect 4
- Match the Words Puzzles

This set features activities for the focus sounds: qu, ff, ss, ll

To use this resource, you will need access to the books A Fun Quiz and Dress Up Hullabaloo.

5. In the Phonics Plus Tupu Hands-On Activities – Set Five pack, you receive:

Two activities:
- Write the Room
- Match the Split Digraph
Plus Bonus BOOM card game for te reo Māori and high utility non-decodable words in the Tupu (Seedling) texts.

This set features activities for the focus sounds: Split digraphs a_e, i_e and o_e:
