This is an article about the enormous engineering challenge of clearing one of New Zealand’s biggest slips in the Manawatū Gorge. It details the work of digging out 370,000 cubic metres of debris, using machinery anchored by the mighty bulldozer, “The Bandit,” and implementing bench cuts to stabilize the hillside over fifteen months.
