Tier 2 Vocabulary Explicit Teaching Slides and Make Your Own Editable Slides – Year 7
NZ$8.50
Description
Our Year 7 Tier Two Vocabulary Explicit Teaching Slides are an engaging and highly effective resource for exploring word meanings. These slides work perfectly alongside your structured literacy programme, supporting students as they build a stronger vocabulary. Expanding vocabulary is critical to improving reading and writing skills, and research shows that students with larger vocabularies tend to excel academically, particularly in reading.
The refreshed New Zealand English Curriculum supports a structured literacy approach, including “Explicit teaching of new abstract and discipline-specific vocabulary to support comprehension” (p23).
Our Tier 2 Vocabulary Explicit Teaching Slides for Year 7 (Set One) include:
- 30 tier 2 vocabulary words
- a range of interactive activities to explore each word
- editable template slides for you to create your own vocabulary slides
Our explicit vocabulary tools provide:
- simple definitions
- examples and non-examples
- semantic activities (synonyms and antonyms)
- word family activities
- visual aids
- brief discussions to make connections
- checks for understanding to ensure effective learning
- student-created definitions.
We have designed our Tier 2 Vocabulary Explicit Teaching Slides:
- For use with your whole class (explicit instruction teaching model).
- As PowerPoint presentations (these can be used in Google slides, too)
- For short regular sessions. You choose how many words you explore each session.
- With a wide selection of skills included in a randomised order.
- To have a quick pace to keep engagement
- To work as review slides. Revise regularly to reinforce previously introduced words.
These words come from the Academic Word List by Coxhead (2000). This word list was created by finding words that appeared frequently across academic literature.
