Engage your students in a study of New Zealand’s native birds with our interactive scavenger hunt and puzzle pack! Your students will learn about nine native birds to Aotearoa. We’ve provided two versions of this resource: smaller passages and activities for Year 3-4 and longer passages for Year 5-8. Great for differentiation within your class! Keep reading to see the key differences between the Year 3-4 and Year 5-8 packs. 
 
British spelling and paper sizes are included.
 
Display the nine fact cards around the room, and hand out the puzzle pieces. Students use the facts to complete their interactive puzzles. Display the amazing completed puzzles and wow your school! This activity works for individuals, pairs, or teams.
 
In this New Zealand’s native birds scavenger hunt pack you will receive:
  • Nine Fact Cards at two levels (Year 3-4 and Year 5-8)
  • 9 puzzle pieces with comprehension activities (Year 3-4 and Year 5-8)
  • Large and small puzzle pieces are included.
  • Teacher Answer Key for applicable questions
  • Two ‘Tips For Use’ pages with ways to use this resource in your classroom.
The Year 3-4 puzzle pieces provide opportunities to practice cloze reading, summarising, and finding specific information.
 
The Year 5-8 activity is focused on the skills of note-taking and summarising. A graphic organiser and reminder card is provided. We have also provided an example of this form of note-taking for you to show your students.
